The exhibition traces how buildings for sport have changed from the stadiums of ancient Greece and the arenas of Rome to modern venues. It draws on historical objects, architectural drawings and models, photographs, publications and audiovisual material.
The story ends in Qatar with the development of Khalifa International Stadium, which opened in 1976. The museum sits at the stadium itself.
